    I wish we had checked the hundreds of complaints about these guys before renting through them but we didn't so I'm posting hoping to save someone else our fate. The house we rented was so not as described on their website and was poorly maintained at that. We contacted Vacasa about the problem as soon as we arrived but were told they would take care of it but they never did. In the end they said the problems were the owners responsibility (how were we supposed to contact the owner if they didn't?) and there was nothing they could do about them but of course we had no way to hold the owner responsible. They said we could apply for compensation after our stay was over but I think they said that just to stop our phone calls to check up on how things were going. Well, the "could apply" part was true but the "compensation" amounted to less than 1% of our rental. They seemed to be very apologetic in their official responses on yelp and with the BBB but it was not genuine. If you look at their responses to people's problems they are all the same, just scripts. They don't really care which was frustrating and unfortunate. In the end we came off feeling like Vacasa was just a protective front for owners who wanted to be a little free with the truth of their listings and irresponsible with their upkeep. We learned an expensive lesson that we don't want others to have to repeat.
